Clinical Risk Management

Improving Patient Safety in Victoria's Public Hospitals

Welcome to the Victorian Government Clinical Risk Management (CRM) website. This site has been developed to provide health services with information including implementation of Statewide CRM initiatives as well as other useful links.

CRM is an approach to improving the quality and safe delivery of health care by:

  • placing special emphasis on identifying circumstances that put patients at risk of harm, and
  • acting to prevent or control those risks.

The Australian Council for Safety and Quality in Health Care has developed a detailed list of terms and definitions for safety and quality to establish some consistency in the language used in this area, to view this list go to the Safety and Quality Council website.

Risk Watch is a monthly newsletter providing information to individuals and health services on lessons learnt from the Sentinel Event Program.
